چکیده

Twenty-three trilobite taxa are described here from the Early Ordovician (Tremadocian to Floian) Nambeet Formation retrieved Barnicarndy 1 drillcore, Canning Basin, Western Australia. This includes one new genus, Veeversaspis gen. nov., and six species: Asaphellus zheni sp. Madiganaspis lauriei Norasaphus (Norasaphus) jagoi Rodingaia leggi Sanbernardaspis excalibur jelli et nov. fauna can be divided into three stratigraphically distinct assemblages, Apatokephalus sp.–Veeversaspis Assemblage (2177.50–2382.94 m depth), trinodosus (2030.07–2177.52 (1595.83–2001.88 depth). The two lowest assemblages consistent with a late latest Tremadocian age (both within Paroistodus proteus Zone). third, highest, assemblage is mid-Floian (within Oepikodus communis systematic contribution refines previous biostratigraphic work based on an age-diagnostic conodont demonstrates stratigraphic utility of using multiple taxonomic groups for more robust estimates.P.M. A 12-month survey of recreational fishing in the Swan- Canning Estuary Basin of Western Australia during 1998-99

A survey of recreational boat-based and shore-based fishing in the Swan-Canning Estuary Basin was conducted between August 1998 and July 1999. During the survey 1,302 interviews were conducted at boat ramps. The majority of these (62%) were not involved in fishing or crabbing activities, with a further 18 per cent fishing in the adjacent ocean. Of the remainder, 139 boats had been crabbing and ...

Stratigraphic Evidence for Tectonically Driven Subsidence during Deposition of the Middlebury Formation (middle Ordovician), Western Vermont

The Middlebury Formation is a Middle Ordovician limestone deposited on the margin of Laurentia during the collision of the Ammonoosuc Arc with Laurentia. Tectonic processes such as subsidence can have an effect on the forearc basin morphology such that the sedimentation in the basin is influenced and the stratigraphy will reflect such tectonic processes. The purpose of this study is to examine ...

Phylogenetic and Biogeographic Analysis of Ordovician Homalonotid Trilobites

Cladistic parsimony analysis of the trilobite family Homalonotidae Chapman 1980 produced a hypothesis of relatedness for the group. The family consists of three monophyletic subfamilies, one containing Trimerus Green 1832, Platycoryphe Foerste 1919, and Brongniartella Reed 1918; one containing Plaesiacomia Hawle and Corda 1847 and Colpocoryphe Novák in Perer 1918; and one containing Eohomalonot...

Relative and absolute abundance of trilobites and rhynchonelliform brachiopods across the Lower/Middle Ordovician boundary, eastern Basin and Range

—Relative abundance data are of primary importance in paleoecology, but it is not always obvious how they should be interpreted. Because relative abundance is expressed as a proportion of the total sample, change in the abundance of one group necessarily changes the relative abundance of all groups in the sample. There are two possible interpretations for a trend in the relative abundance of a ...

Application of Well Log Analysis to Assess the Petrophysical Parameters of the Early Eocene Sui Main Limestone (SML) in Kharnhak-1 Well, Middle Indus Basin, Pakistan

The petrophysical analysis of the early Eocene Sui Main Limestone (SML) has been conducted in Kharnhak-1 well for the prospect of the hydrocarbon exploration of the Khairpur-Jacobabad High, Middle Indus Basin, Pakistan. The petrophysical analysis of SML is carried out on the basis of well logs including gamma ray, spontaneous potential, resistivity, neutron, and density logs. These analyses lea...
